What kind of results can I expect from a scar revision procedure?

What does surgical scar revision involve?
Before performing a scar revision procedure, the physician treating you will always conduct a personal consultation. He will examine the scar troubling the patient and the surrounding tissue in some detail and then discuss the potential treatment options with you.
Depending on the severity of the scar, the physician will decide between a conservative or surgical procedure. If possible, we perform surgical scar revision on an outpatient basis under local anaesthetic. For very complex scar revision procedures, it may be necessary to perform the treatment under general anaesthetic.
When will I be able to socialise and exercise again after scar revision?
Generally speaking, you will be able attend to your social obligations immediately after minimally invasive scar revision treatment. In the case of surgical scar removal, you should plan to rest and recover for a few days. We will provide detailed information during the preliminary discussion.
Depending on the type of scar treatment, it may be necessary to refrain from exercising for one or two weeks. Your doctor will also provide you with instructions in this regard during the initial consultation.
Which are the risks associated with scar revision?
Depending on the treatment method used, you may temporarily experience localised skin irritation, swelling or redness. Just like any other surgical procedure, surgical scar removal is associated with general surgical risks.
